Round Robin: Create a story - Round Robin

Welcome to the Create a story Round Robin!

Get ready to jump into a fun and creative storytelling journey where everyone plays a part! In this round robin, you won’t just start your own story—you’ll also add new ideas to others' stories as we take turns writing. With each round, you’ll help shape a different tale, making every contribution a new and exciting challenge.

This is your chance to explore new genres, try out different writing styles, and see how the stories grow with everyone’s input. Each of us brings something special, and together, we’ll create unique and unexpected stories. Let your imagination run wild and watch how our shared creativity turns each story into something amazing!

Here’s how it works:

1. Setting the tone

  • Each story owner (the person who initiates the story) will outline the genre and overall tone they want to follow for their story. This ensures that the story remains within the desired genre (e.g., avoiding horror if not wanted).
  • Keep it clean and respectful. We’re here to have fun and express creativity in a positive, inclusive environment, so no offensive or inappropriate content.

2. Starting the story

  • Each story owner will write the opening passage for their own story, setting the scene, introducing characters, or establishing a direction.
  • The first page must include the story round robin ID clearly marked by the owner to ensure clarity about the genre and starting point.
  • The opening passage should be at least A5 in length.

3. Writing for different participants

  • After the stories are started, each member will take turns writing for a different participant's story in a fixed rotation. This means you will be adding to a different story each time, allowing your creativity to flow in various directions.
  • Each section must be at least A5 in length. You can write more if you're inspired, but aim to balance your contribution with others.
  • Stay true to the genre and style outlined by the story owner. If it’s a mystery or fantasy, keep your additions within that world.

4. Timeline for contributions

  • Each member has 2 weeks to contribute to the current story they're assigned to. After two weeks, the rotation moves to the next person, and the story continues.
  • Important: If you are unable to contribute within your two-week window, you must send the story forward without your contribution to keep the chain intact. This is essential for the story's progress. If you know beforehand that meeting this timeline might be an issue, we kindly ask that you refrain from joining the event to avoid delays.
  • When the story moves to a new page (separate from the initial page), you must clearly mark the new page number to keep the sequence organized.
  • Timely contributions help the story flow smoothly and ensure every participant's creativity has a chance to shine!

5. Ending the stories

  • The story will end after the last round. The final contributor in the rotation for each story will be responsible for writing a concluding section that wraps up that particular tale.
  • The final writer should bring closure to the plot and characters unless the story owner indicated otherwise.

6. Collaborative spirit

  • Enjoy the fun and unpredictability that comes with writing for different stories! Embrace the unique twists that come from multiple creative voices.
  • While you’re welcome to discuss ideas in the private Round Robin forum between rounds, spontaneous writing is encouraged, and surprises are part of the fun.

7. Respecting boundaries

  • Respect each author’s story. Avoid undoing or drastically changing a story’s direction without clear narrative purpose.
  • Significant changes to plot or characters should be a natural progression in the story’s development.

Important:
Each member is responsible for taking a copy or photo of the story after their turn. In case a section of the story is lost, members can help recreate it from backups. This ensures that every story continues even if something goes missing.
